What I love about the home
Beautiful golden oak hardwood floors throughout most of the house, except for tile floors in the bathrooms and kitchen/pantry. The living and dining rooms have elegant crown molding. The second floor bathroom has the original 30s marble hexagonal tile floor. The sun room on the second floor is a sunny, peaceful haven with nice views from the windows. I love all the tons of closet space, including the cedar closet, and I love how the owner has fitted out the closets. I especially appreciate that the home has all the original hardware, including glass door knobs on all the doors. I love the fact this home is situated on a larger than normal corner lot and is partially fenced.

This wonderful art moderne style house is the only one of its kind in Parkersburg. There is a large single car garage is on the basement level, and it has a workshop area. A brand new Thermacore garage door with automatic reverse and motion detection safety features has been installed. A finished rec room with two windows is also located on the basement level, as well as a utility/storage room.
The first floor has an enormous living room (almost 400 s.f) with a section of curved glass block wall, a gas fireplace, and natural light from four directions. There is a large sized entrance hall, a powder room, a formal dining room, a large eat-in kitchen, and a small library located on the first floor also.
Upstairs are three bedrooms and one full bathroom. The master bedroom is huge--approximately 340 s.f. It stretches all the way across the front of the second floor and has an exit onto the huge (over 400 s.f.) private balcony located over the living room. The upstairs bathroom retains the original 1950s fixtures and fittings in good condition with pink fixtures, pink and gray tile walls, and pink and white tile floor. The laundry has been relocated to the second floor, and there are a brand new matching full size front loading washer and electric dryer installed.
The lot is a double lot--two lots of 40 by 133 feet, making the total lot size over 10,000 s.f. with 80 feet of street frontage. There is a garden shed and lots of landscaping--mature trees, shrubs, and flowers. The back and side yards are fully fenced with a combination of six foot privacy fence and chain link fence. The driveway and sidewalks were just redone with poured concrete and a small retaining wall has been added to the front boundary of the property.
A new gas water heater was installed in May 2013. All new stainless steel, energy efficient appliances have been installed: wall oven, gas cooktop, dishwasher and refrigerator. The plumbing has been upgraded and additional shower heads have been added to the upstairs bath. The electrical wiring has been upgraded.
What I love about the home
Lots of space, inside and out. Very light and airy house inside with all rooms having natural light coming from two or more directions. I love the drama of the curved glass block wall. There is lots of 1950s vintage charm left--the full bathroom is all original and the library has lovely knotty pine paneling.
The kitchen has the 1950s vintage Tappan wall oven still in place and working as well as a new electric oven and gas cooktop. All appliances are stainless steel.
The house is located directly across the street from Parkersburg City Park, giving you a front row seat for the 4th of July fireworks display and for the Christmas lights display and the various festivals which take place in the Park.

The house faces Parkersburg City Park and overlooks the swimming pool, pond and paved jogging/walking trails.

It also has a 1st floor laundry room; kitchen (large enough for eating in); formal dining room; living room; entry foyer; a full basement with concrete floor which is set up for a workshop with several workbenches, shop lights and electrical power.
All 3 bedrooms are on second floor; the master bedroom has crown molding and a chandelier. Also on the 2nd floor, there is small bonus room suitable for sewing room or study or extra storage.

Upscale light fixtures in main rooms and bedrooms. Lovely garden and private backyard and side yards.
